The Mâconnais is the southernmost wine-growing region in Burgundy. Its vineyards stretch 35 km between Sennecey-le-Grand and St Vérand. This 10 km wide region is bordered by the Grosne Valley to the west and the Saône Valley to the east. Monks also played a decisive role in the development of the vineyards here. The Abbey of Cluny, founded in 909 by William the 1st Count of Mâcon, led the monks to create their own vineyard. It was in response to the wealth of this abbey that Cîteaux was founded in 1098 by Robert de Moslesme. In the centuries that followed, the Cistercian order spread throughout Europe. 100% Chardonnay
This is a wine from brown limestone and calcic soils dating back to the Middle Jurassic period.
The vineyard is located in the Mâconnais region.
The harvest was carried out manually by our team. The whole grapes were pressed and cold-settling allowed for 24 to 48 hours. The clear must was fermented in oak barrels previously used for several wines to preserve its purity and minerality. The resulting wine was aged on lees for 11 months before bottling.
This white Mâcon is particularly distinguished by its mineral character, its tonicity, and its freshness. It can be served as an aperitif or with starters, and will pair very well with shellfish and fish.
